It took seven rounds for a Cavalier to be called by an NFL team, but draft watchers experienced double vision watching picks 244 and 245 take place. Virginia’s Jason Snelling and Marcus Hamilton were selected by the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, respectively, preventing the 2007 NFL Draft from going Cav-less.
Snelling, taken as a fullback, was the last of Atlanta’s 11 picks. Snelling joins a Falcons squad rich in running back depth. Florida State alum Warrick Dunn and second year sensation Jerious Norwood are the two primary backs, with three running backs listed behind them. Time will tell if new Falcons coach Bobby Petrino decides to create a space for fullback or not. If he does, Snelling might get some action.
Hamilton was the second corner taken by the Bucs, along with Syracuse’s Tanard Jackson. He will join Gaines Adams (4th overall selection) in Tampa, for a team that was obviously concerned with defense: only three of their ten draft selections play offensive positions. Hamilton will have the chance to work with fellow UVA alum Ronde Barber in the Bucs’ secondary.
Nonetheless, The Fanatic staff is excited for these two former Wahoos, and wishes them luck in their pursuit of NFL dreams (and big bucks) next year.

| The first thing I should say is that nobody should let me write my own biography.
I am a die hard Cubs fan from New Jersey…already you are thinking two things: 1) Sucks to be him and 2) How the heck did that happen? To make matters worse, I am a Titans fan. At least I have one thing to look forward to every year: next year.
I think Virginia is the best school in America because of the combination of top academics and top athletics, not to mention gorgeous Grounds. It’s great to be a Cavalier/Wahoo. To be honest, I never wore orange before coming to UVA. Now I wear a lot of orange.
