We’re closing in on the final weeks of the college football season, and the Heisman race is as close as ever. A showdown between two of the top candidates this weekend could go a long way towards deciding who takes home the trophy next month. Here are my favorites:

Graham Harrell, Texas Tech QB: Harrell and the Red Raiders had the week off last week, but I’m sure they took advantage of it and spent extra time preparing for their showdown with Oklahoma this Saturday. For the season Harrell has thrown for 4,077 yards and 36 touchdowns with only 6 interceptions. He also has 6 rushing touchdowns. Harrell could tighten his grip at the top of the board if he leads his team to victory in Norman. The world will be watching to see if Harrell can keep Texas Tech undefeated.

Colt McCoy, Texas QB: McCoy had another solid performance in Texas’ 35-7 win over Kansas, throwing for 255 yards and 2 touchdowns, while adding 78 yards and another score on the ground. So far this season McCoy has thrown for 3,134 yards and 30 touchdowns with just 7 interceptions. He has also rushed for 527 yards and 8 touchdowns. The Longhorns are off this week, but look for McCoy to have a big game when Texas takes on rival Texas A&M November 27.

Sam Bradford, Oklahoma QB: Like Graham Harrell, Bradford had the week off to get ready for his showdown with Texas Tech and fellow Heisman candidate Harrell on Saturday. The winner will likely go to the Big 12 Title game and the winning quarterback will likely have the edge in the Heisman race. Bradford has been spectacular all season, throwing for 3,406 yards and 38 touchdowns with just 6 interceptions. He also has 4 rushing touchdowns. Look for a shootout on Saturday as these two great quarterbacks match up.

Tim Tebow, Florida QB: It was business as usual for Tebow and the Gators last Saturday, as they dominated Steve Spurrier’s South Carolina team 56-6. Tebow threw for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed for 39 yards and another touchdown. Tebow has not put up the numbers he did last year, but that’s mainly because he doesn’t have too- the talent around him is just amazing. For the year Tebow has thrown for 1,913 yards and 19 touchdowns with just 2 interceptions to go with 393 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Tebow should lead Florida to another huge win on Saturday against Citadel.

Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech WR: Crabtree had the week off last week, but his performance this Saturday against Oklahoma will go a long way towards deciding which team wins the game. This season Crabtree has caught 78 balls for 1,010 yards and 18 touchdowns. Graham Harrell will be looking for his star wideout a lot this Saturday, as Crabtree figures to be the best skill position player on the field.

Sentimental Favorite: Virginia had the week off, but let’s hope the Hoos can step it up this Saturday and become bowl eligible with a win over Clemson at home this Saturday.
