See who did their homework, and who took whom to school...

Butch DavisPulled off a convincing win against a solid Connecticut team, vaulting his team to #22 in the nation. Well coached, a young team with great recruiting over the past few years looks to have a bright future ahead of them, not to mention later this year. A

Al Groh—The Cavalier coach comes off of a HUGE win against Maryland, one of the better teams in the ACC. If he had lost this game, he could have just cancelled the rest of the season. The unexpected emergence of Mark Verica strangely parallels the legend of the Chupacabra. A

Paul Johnson—The first season Georgia Tech coach continues to impress. Beating the daylights out of Duke, his strong running attack and stingy defense created plenty of opportunities to capitalize. Look for him and his team to continue strong performances as they learn to master his playbook and gameplan. B+

Bobby Bowden—Rumors about his retirement quieted once he hushed Miami last weekend. FSU is noe ranked high in the ACC and has a certain shot at winning it. Next big game is in two weeks against Virginia Tech. This test of coaching legends will be a good show who wants the ACC title more. B+

Jeff Jagodzinski—Though he barely pulled off a win against NC State, JJ'scrucial decisions helped pull out the victory and salvage his grade for this week. Extra Credit for Matt Ryan's success in the NFL. B

Jim Grobe—A pretty sloppy game all around lead to Wake’s first loss last weekend. The fact that the game was honestly a mismatch - in Grobe's favor - means a big deduction from his grade. Wake can make up for it by overcoming Clemson in their game this weekend - a battle for redemption between the two teams expected to be the ACC best this season. C+

Frank Beamer— Points for moving his team into first place in the ACC Coastal division, but was not overly convincing against Western Kentucky last weekend. He has finally picked a full time RB in Darren Evans, which guarantees Tech the Continental Tire Bowl or better this year. Up next: Boston College in a battle of top ACC squads. C+

Tommy Bowden—His Clemson team had a week off, so the grade remains the same as after the Maryland game, a hard-fought but somewhat poorly coached loss. Widely considered the most talented team in the ACC, Clemson needs to beat a reputable opponent for if their coach is going to get any respect this year. C+

Randy Shannon- His great recruiting class didn’t show as his Miami squad was pushed around by FSU. Maybe the Miami heat has got to him. Miami's upcoming schedule offers two easier opponents - UCF and Duke - and, hopeully, an opportunity to get back to winning ways. C

Tom O’Brien—The Wolfpack had a tough conference loss to Boston College. With Flordida State in the near future, the schedule that remains isn't looking any easier. Looks like a losing season and generally rocky year for the first year coach. C

David Cutcliffe—The Dukies' season came back to earth as Georgia Tech bedeviled the blue devils last weekend. Their scoreless and extremely sloppy performance was a complete turnaround from their game against UVA the previous weekend. With many expecting another loss to Miami this weekend, the matchup will certainly prove Duke’s mettle. C

Ralph Freidgen—Unable to put even a single point on the board against a porous UVA defense, he also allowed 31 points to the (formerly ranked) second worst offense in all of Divion One College Football. A poor performance for the team all around. The unexpected disappearance of the Maryland defense strangely parallels the story of Amelia Earhart. C-
